I had faced a little trauma when the accident had happened. I was in a line of traffic that was moving steadily when I was rear ended by a pickup. The person who caused the accident was nice to start with and tool all care to help me. He arranged for an ambulance to get me to a hospital for a check up. He also had my car picked up for repairs. I was happy that all things had been taken care off. I did not have any injuries that were considered serious. I was allowed to go home the same day.
It was a month later that I started getting pain in my lower back. Pain that was shooting down my legs. I had to go back to the doctors again. It was then discovered that the accident had caused damage to a disc in my spine. I was required to have surgery to get the same back in order. Afraid that I would have to face the expenses, I called up the other party. I was hoping that he would take care of these expenses as well. Unfortunately he wasn’t. He claimed that I had been cleared by the doctors earlier and could not demand compensation for the same accident twice. I knew I would need a lawyer at that point.
I got in touch with my lawyer for advice. It was a tough job to prove that this injury was related to the same accident. Evidence from doctors at the hospital and independent evaluators would have to be gathered before any action could be taken. My lawyer set about gathering the information he needed. I was still waiting for some word from him regarding his progress when he confidently asked me to go ahead with the treatment. He had consulted an orthopedist that was willing to confirm that my injury was related to the same accident.
Things started moving fast after that information came in. my lawyer shot off a letter to the insurers of the other party with sufficient evidence of the predicament I was in. Sufficient time was given to them to investigate matters on their own if required. My lawyer was confident that we had a good case as the evidence provided was by top doctors in town. The insurers too did not hesitate to make their investigations but came up with an honest answer in the face of the documents that we had. I could get through the treatment that I required without having to step in a court of law, thanks to the way my case was handled by my lawyer.
