I was clear in my mind and careful when I saw the signs warning me about a wet floor. The grocery had just been wiped clean and was looking nice and tidy. But the floors were slippery as well. Even though I was careful enough I managed to loose control of myself. I had a fall near a shelf and hit my head against a shelf that had sharp edges around the corners. I was hurt and bleeding. I had a crowd of people around me all trying to help me out. Looking closely I could see that the shelf in question had tear in the metal at the bottom where my head had slammed? I did not hold the grocery responsible for the fall I had. I just held them responsible for leaving such dangerous edges without being repaired or even covered to protect people from such accidents.
I spoke to the manager of the grocery about this who agreed that repairs were indeed needed but refused to compensate me for the injury that I had faced. He was trying to hide behind the sign for a wet floor without understanding that I wasn’t claiming for that at all. As things were getting nowhere I decided to contact a lawyer. Before leaving the grocery I made sure I had pictures of the shelf on my cell phone from close range.
I contacted a lawyer to get me what I wanted. I had plenty of witnesses to testify that I did have a fall in the grocery which was the cause of the gash in my head. The pictures were evidence enough to make my case even better. It only took a letter from my lawyer to get the management of the grocery to their feet. They were willing to make an out of court settlement to avoid any unwanted publicity. That was what I was hoping for anyway. My lawyer was able to get me all the costs that were associated with the injury and his fees
